Month: February 2023

Today is TUUSDAY.

Today is Independence Day, a public holiday in Grenada. This holiday is celebrated annually on 7th February and marks Grenada’s independence from Britain on 7 February 1974. Grenada, incidentally, is the source of 1/3 of the world’s nutmeg. The little blob on the left of the flag of Grenada is a nutmeg kernel.

Bada Bing!

My friend told me he couldn’t afford his water bill. I sent him a get well soon card.

For someone that doesn’t like to leave the house, I care way too much about the weather.

My dog sets an impossible bar for how I should greet my wife when she comes home.

Parents today: Text me when you get there, text me the names of the kids who are there, text me when you’re coming home. Parents in the 80s: Bye.

Today I wore something that still fits me from 55 years ago. It’s only a scarf, But, hey, let’s be positive.

My friend just said to me, “You’ve put a lot of weight on”. I said, “I’ve had a lot on my plate recently”.

Valentine’s Day Special, $500.

We arrest you in front of your wife and release you on Tuesday. Includes camping fee, fishing license, tent, and beer.

Ah HA!

When you realize that the last day of 2023 will be 123123.

Today is the birthday, in 1962, of Garth Brooks, the biggest selling artist of the 90s with some 60 million sales.

MOON-DAY – great moon last night

Today is St. Brigid’s Day – a public holiday in Ireland. St. Brigid is one of the three Patron Saints of Ireland, the other two are St. Columba and of course, St.Patrick. She was a pupil of St. Patrick and became famous for her kindness, mercy, and her miracles. In addition, Brigid founded Ireland’s most famous mixed (male and female) monastery in County Kildare. The legends about Saint Brigid echo the myths and legends about the three-faced Celtic fertility goddess Brigid – the goddess of war, poetry, crafts, and healing. It is worth noting that before the arrival of Christianity in Ireland, the feast of the goddess Brigid was also celebrated on February 1st, the first day of Spring in the Celtic calendar.

Today is the birthday, in 1945, of Bob Marley, one of the pioneers of reggae and a global cultural figure and one of my favorites.

a cold FRIDAY

Today is Setsuban in Japan. The word Setsubun (節分) literally means the division of two seasons: Winter and Spring. According to the lunar calendar that was once officially used in Japan, Setsubun refers to the close of winter, which also celebrates the arrival of spring. Mamemaki (豆まき), the throwing of roasted soybeans around your house, is the most general custom that is exclusively carried out on Setsubun. It is said best to start off with the room that is located the farthest from the entrance. Keep windows open as you throw the beans so that evil spirits can leave.

Success!
