Tuesday Stuff

Serious irony here…

Most American!

It’s that day!!!!!!

A change of seasons

On this day in 1972 James Taylor and Carly Simon were married in her apartment by a judge. Eleven years later they divorced. Shortly after marrying Taylor, Simon released this song which she says is about three different men, but definitely not Taylor and also definitely not about me. I love the bass riff at the beginning…

Five years later, Carly Simon released this song which I always assumed was about me but in any case is certainly the best James Bond song.

Hmmm

Today’s musical selection is ‘Lover’s Concerto‘ by The Toys. It was the number one hit this day in 1965 (according to Cashbox). The song was written by Sandy Linzer and Denny Randell who cleverly copied the melody from Minuet in G Minor written by Christian Petzold in 1725. Enjoy!

And now compare…

Happy Monday!

RIP Spencer Davis
Damn Legos…

Today is the birthday, in 1936, of Charlie Daniels, singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. He’s probably most famous for his song ‘The Devil Went Down To Georgia’, but I’m going to give you a video of him and his band doing the classic ‘Orange Blossom Special’.
