Today is Saints Cyril and Methodius Day also known in Bulgaria as Bulgarian Education and Culture Day. They spread christianity among the Slavic peoples of Bulgaria, Great Moravia, and Pannonia. They are credited with devising the Glagolitic alphabet, the precursor to the current Cyrillic alphabet which is named after Cyril.
