Today is the King’s Birthday, a public holiday in Lesotho. This day celebrates the birth of King Letsie III, who was born on this day in 1963. The Kingdom of Lesotho, which is enclaved within South Africa, is a hereditary constitutional monarchy.

His Royal Highness Prince David Mohato Bereng Seeiso was born at the Scott Hospital in Morija on July 17th 1963 and was the eldest son of Moshoeshoe II, who became King when Lesotho gained its independence from Britain in October 1966.

MOON-DAY – great moon last night

Today is St. Brigid’s Day – a public holiday in Ireland. St. Brigid is one of the three Patron Saints of Ireland, the other two are St. Columba and of course, St.Patrick. She was a pupil of St. Patrick and became famous for her kindness, mercy, and her miracles. In addition, Brigid founded Ireland’s most famous mixed (male and female) monastery in County Kildare. The legends about Saint Brigid echo the myths and legends about the three-faced Celtic fertility goddess Brigid – the goddess of war, poetry, crafts, and healing. It is worth noting that before the arrival of Christianity in Ireland, the feast of the goddess Brigid was also celebrated on February 1st, the first day of Spring in the Celtic calendar.

Today is the birthday, in 1945, of Bob Marley, one of the pioneers of reggae and a global cultural figure and one of my favorites.

The Hùng Kings’ Temple Festival (Vietnamese: Giỗ Tổ Hùng Vương or lễ hội đền Hùng) is held each year in honor of the Hùng Kings and their role in shaping the nation. the Hung Kings were the founders of the nation and ruled Vietnam from 2879 BC until 258 BC.
