Temptations

It must be…….THURSDAY!!!!!!

Today is Republic Day in Portugal. In Portugal it is known as “Implantation of the Republic”. It commemorates the establishment of a republican form of government in 1910 when the monarchy, the House of Braganca, that had been in power since the 11th century was overthrown in a bloodless revolution.

The First Republic lasted for just 16 turbulent years, ending with the 28 May coup d’état of 1926. This put in place a military dictatorship known as the National Dictatorship. This was followed by the fascist Estado Novo (New State) regime of António de Oliveira Salazar, which proved to be the longest serving authoritarian regime in Western Europe.

Christmas is coming…

Street died on 27th February 2013 after a short illness. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eepLY8J4E6c

WEDNESDAY – still Spring!

Today people in many countries celebrate or continue celebrating Nowruz (Novruz, Navruz, Nooruz, Nevruz, Nauryz) meaning New Day. It marks the beginning of spring according to the Solar Hijri calendar.

BADA BING!

Those who want us to work to age 70 and the ones who won’t hire us after age 50 are the same people.

I love DST, it makes whiny people mad and that brings me joy.

When my wife was pregnant I asked the midwife how many babies she had to deliver to become a fullwife.

Watching the chickens move about the yard is very relaxing. Like poultry in motion.

My wife said, “Is it me, or is the dog getting fat”? Apparently, “It’s not the dog”, was the wrong answer.

I don’t know which is longer, a microwave minute or a treadmill minute.

That awkward moment when you’re ‘protecting’ children from drag, but not from being killed in school.

The scientific theory I like best is that the rings of Saturn are composed entirely of lost airline luggage.

If it weren’t for the invention of Venetian blinds, it would be curtains for us all.

Of the multitude of foods that taste like chicken, I find it ironic that eggs don’t.

I was watching the Bermuda Philharmonic Orchestra when the guy on the triangle disappeared.

Doctor: No, you’re not retaining water. You seem to be retaining food.

On this day in 1965, The Temptations released their second studio album Sing Smokey. As its name implies, it is composed entirely of songs written and produced by Smokey Robinson, and several other members of the Miracles as well. More importantly, it featured one of the well known Motown releases in its history ‘My Girl’. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_CSjcm-z1w

Have a terrific TUESDAY!

Today many people are celebrating Nowruz, the Persian New Year. While it’s largely a secular holiday, it is a religious holiday for Zoroastrians, Bahá’í and some Muslim.

Bada Bing!

A bittersweet announcement, but after an amazing 2 years as an infectious disease expert, I’m moving on.I am now an expert on no-fly zones and Eastern European affairs.Excited to make the most of this new opportunity.

I’ve been hiding from exercise. I’m in the fitness protection program.

If you had Ron DeSantis attacking Disney World because of communism on your bingo card today, you win.

I don’t think the therapist is supposed to say “wow” that many times in your first session, but here we are.

I just witnessed a woman pull out her ringing phone from her purse. She loudly sang along with the ringtone to the very end. Then this woman slipped her phone right back into her bag. She never answered it.This is the energy I’ll take into the rest of the year.

I carry a whistle to the grocery store in case someone violates the sanctity of the “15 Items Or Less” lane.

If you’re buying smart water for $5 a bottle it’s not working.

My biology teacher asked what the function of carbohydrates were, but apparently “filling the deep well of sadness inside me” was not the correct answer.

Q: When was running invented?

A: Running was invented in 1748 by Thomas Running when he tried to walk twice at the same time.

On this day in 1965, the Temptations released their second album which included this well-known song…

THURSDAY is the day it is

Today’s holiday is Ill Full Moon Poya Day in Sri Lanka. Every full moon (usually once a month) is a public holiday in Sri Lanka. Each of the full moons has its own name and they are days to commemorate key events in Buddhism. This Poya celebrates the obtaining of Vivarana (the assurance of becoming a Buddha) by the Bodhisatta Maitriya and the commissioning of 60 disciples by The Buddha to disperse his teachings.

Now back to our regularly scheduled program…
