Today is Liberation Day – a public holiday in both South and North Korea. It marks the liberation of Korea from 35 years of Japanese imperial rule in 1945 after the end of the Second World War. It is also known as Gwangbokjeol, which literally means ‘Restoration of Light’ day.
On this day in 1976, ABBA released Dancing Queen as the lead single from their fourth studio album. Dancing Queen’ (which had the working title of ‘Boogaloo’) went on to top the charts in more than a dozen countries including the United States where it became ABBA’s only No.1.
