FRIDAY – The eve of Christmas Eve

Today is Constitution Day in Yap. Observed annually on December 24th, Constitution Day is a holiday observed in the state of Yap in Micronesia. Micronesia is a federal republic that’s consists of four different states and these states are Chuuk, Kosrae, Pohnpei, and Yap. Yap is well known for its stone money known as Fei or Rai. These are carved stone discs that can be up to 12-feet in diameter. In 2010, the population of Yap was approximately 11,377 people. Yap is composed of 134 islands and atolls spread over a 100,000 square mile area. Only about 22 of the islands in the group are occupied.
