WEDNESDAY in the middle

Genocide Memorial Day (‘Mets Yegherrni zoheri hishataki’) in Armenia is a public holiday on April 24th. Known as Armenian Martyrs Day, this day honors the memory of victims of persecution that began on April 24th 1915.

The date of April 24th commemorates the deportation of over 250 Armenian intellectuals on April 24th 1915 from Constantinople. This event was seen as the start of the killing of 1.5 million Armenians.

From the 15th century, Armenia had been part of the Ottoman Empire. The Armenian community flourished and grew across the Ottoman Empire and was sizeable by the time most of modern-day Armenia came under Russian rule in the 19th century.

The Ottomans entered World War I on the side of the Germans and the Austro-Hungarian Empire in 1914. The religious authorities declared a holy war against all Christians except their allies. This was bad news for the Christian Armenians, with the Turkish government viewing the Armenian population as the enemy.

This led to the persecution and killings of the Armenians. By the end of the persecution in 1923, it is estimated that less than 400,000 Armenians remained in Turkey from a previous population of over two million.

On Genocide Memorial Day, thousands of Armenians gather at the Tsitsernakaberd Genocide Memorial to commemorate the victims of the genocide and lay flowers at the eternal flame.

THURSDAY – according to my phone

Today is Independence Day in Cambodia. The holiday celebrates the anniversary of Cambodia’s independence from France on 9 November 1953 and is Cambodia’s national holiday.

Cambodia became a protectorate of France in 1863 and a virtual colony by the twentieth century. In 1941, the French installed Prince Sihanouk on the Cambodian throne. With the support of the Japanese, Sihanouk declared independence from France in March 1945. Following the defeat of Japan, France regained control of the region, but the move had sparked a desire for independence. By July 1953, France had stated that it was ready to grant full independence to Cambodia and on 9 November 1953, full independence was achieved.

King Norodom Sihanouk went on to rule Cambodia for the next 15 years before he was overthrown by a military coup.

Not precisely what he wanted…

Love is in the air!!

Today is the birthday, in 1941, of American musician Tom Fogerty, best known as the rhythm guitarist for Creedence Clearwater Revival (with his brother, John) who scored the 1969 US No.2 & UK No.1 single ‘Bad Moon Rising’, and the 1970 US & UK No.1 album Cosmo’s Factory. DAY of WEDNES

Today is Day of the Sea in Bolivia – a landlocked country. It commemorates the lost of its coastal province in the War of the Pacific. On March 23, 1879, Chilean forces attacked and defeated some 100 Bolivian and Peruvian soldiers at the Battle of Calama. The Bolivian commander, Eduardo Abaroa was defending a small bridge when the Chileans demanded his surrender. His response was “Que se rinda tu abuela!” which means, “Me, surrender? Tell your grandmother to surrender!” after which he was promptly shot dead.

Not only can he type fast, he can also type many other words.

Here’s a bit of CCR!

Bada Bing!

I’m not saying you’re stupid.I’m just saying you have bad luck when it comes to thinking.

I’m currently working on a diary full of lies.I want my loved ones to read it after I die and go “Wait, WHAT!”

If a prisoner is released early, does it mean he doesn’t complete his

The wife was doing her makeup early morning straight out of bed.Husband: Are you crazy!Wife: Just shut up! I need to unlock my phone. It’s on face recognition feature and it doesn’t recognize me!

I asked her how she spelled Mississippi. She asked the river or the state? I’m never asking Mrs. Sippy anything again.

As we wrap up another Halloween, I’m reminded that whoever determined that a 1-inch candy bar should be called “fun-sized” should really re-evaluate their standards for entertainment.

As you get older, you’ve got to stay positive. For example, the other day I fell down the stairs.Instead of getting upset, I thought, “Wow, that’s the fastest I’ve moved in years!”

Every time you talk to your wife, you should always remind yourself, ‘this conversation will be recorded for training and quality purposes.

Policeman: My dog tells me you’re on drugs.Citizen: You’re the one with the talking dog!

Imagine, if you will, a people so conflicted that they will scream “all lives matter” while simultaneously refusing to wear a mask to protect all those lives that matter.

I shot my first turkey yesterday. Scared the shit out of everyone in the frozen food section.

Today is the birthday, in 1941, of Tom Fogarty. He’s best known as the rhythm guitarist for Credence Clearwater Revival. That’s him on the far left while his brother, John, handles the vocals.
