Today is the Naadam Holiday in Mongolia. The Naadam Festival is a celebrated in Mongolia with public holidays from July 11th – 15th each year. This is the largest and most popular holiday in Mongolia. It commemorates Mongolia’s independence from China in 1921. During the Naadam Festival, Mongolians participate in the “Three Manly Games” of archery, wrestling and horseback riding which represent the heritage of the nation.

Today is Tabaski in Senegal. ‘Tabaski’ is simply the Wolof expression of the Muslim holiday Eid-Al-Adha. The feast commemorates the story of Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his son at God’s command. Pretty much every family in Senegal will slaughter a sheep or a goat for the family feast.
